Von Steinen und Glashäusern – Photography exhibition, Darmstädter Tage der Fotografie

On 13 September 2022, Jina Mahsa Amini was arrested for allegedly violating Iran’s dress code. Her death ignited the largest protests against the Iranian regime since 1979.

Women in Iran face severe restrictions: they're forbidden to dance, sing, or ride a bicycle in public, only men can initiate a divorce. Unmarried women sentenced to death are forcibly married before execution.

This project asks what lies beyond the protests we see: How do Iranians in Germany feel, fight, and question the religious basis of these laws?
